Ruga is a type of finish to the top grain leather, often used with calf hides for the making of handbags and other leather products.
Ruga finish smooth out the leather so it doesn’t have a pebble surface or anyvisible flaws.
Nubuck is a leather of mostly bovine origin, which its fetaure is to be very soft and velvety, both at sight and at touch.
As suede, nubuck can be produced from cow, calf, sheepskin, deer.Treated with chrome, the skin is than sharpened: during the sharpening the skin is frosted by the part of the flower, the outer and most valuable part, to be clear from the part of the hair whilst for the simple suede is used the inside, from the side of the flesh.
Generally, nappa leather is pretty high quality leather, it is unsplit, full grain leather. Full grain means that the skin’s surface hasn’t been altered apart from hair removal and is regarded as one of the most authentic kinds of leather since it keeps the texture from the original hide.
Nappa leather is a finish to bovine or sheep hides, characterized by a silky hand, soft tempering and a low thickness. This finish is usually the non-covering pure aniline or semi-aniline one, this means that in the majority of cases these are good quality leathers as any defect in the dermis cannot be masked by the finish.
Initially developed for use on gloves, nappa leather is now found on a wide variety of articles.
When it comes to the high quality nappa leather, you can expect the material to be luxurious and stylish. With minimal maintenance required unfortunately nappa leather is also often used to describe low-grade leather products or even synthetic leather to denote softness.
In other words, just because a leather is called nappa leather doesn’t mean that it is necessary a high quality leather since the name has been stretched and misused.

Vegetable-tanned skin absorbs traces of life. It ages but does not deteriorate. It is precisely the changes that occur with time and use that testify to the naturalness of the product. The warm shades of tannins' colors tend to surface over time. Choosing a product made with this leather means owning an article that is the expression of a philosophy and a unique and unrepeatable lifestyle. No skin is the same and this enriches the products made of a particular charm that is transmitted from the product to the wearer.
Vegetable tanned leather is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers: processing with tannins, in fact, is made without the use of toxic substances or heavy metals. Being of vegetable origin, tannins are absolutely safe even for the most sensitive skin, such as those of children. On the contrary, in predisposed subjects, chrome tanned leather could give rise to urticaria or, even, dermatitis ...
